Artist's Statement

Every moment that we live through puts us in the past. So the present is the past. We can choose to learn from it and/or recreate the wondrous story-telling of memory. These works enhance my life daily as they recount parents and grandparents living their own rich lives. They were adventurers, lovers, scholars, tasting life in their time and in their own terms not knowing those tales would come with me into the studio. The titles themselves tell of holidays, family, despair and wanderings...The scholar revered in his time, the political involvements of another, the new world adventure etc. It has become not only a responsibility to my children but has enhanced my own creative life.

Short Biography

Born on the Lower East Side of New York, I attended Music & Art High School, received a college scholarship, went to Rutger's University, Queens College and then went on to graduate from Cooper Union with a BFA.

Since 2000, some of my one person shows include winner of tri-state competition at the Hammond Museum, Carriage Barn Gallery, Gallery in the Park, Art Place Gallery, Flinn Gallery, Silvermine Guild Gallery plus Director's Choice there, and Gallery on the Hudson. I won awards at NAWA show, Faber Birren color award and also since 2000, had work in Cooper Union's "The Last Show", the Bendheim Gallery, Broome Street Gallery, Westchester Community College, Silvermine Guild, Westport Art Center, Ridgefield Guild and many other venues. One of my paintings hung at the Katonah Museum as featured artist.

I was director of a community art program in Linden, NJ and the spent several years teaching with the NYU Extension program, and mentoring for the Pratt Institute Degree Program.

At present I am on the Artist Advisory Board at the Katonah Museum and also moderate many of their discussions.
